Japanese Tattoo Art Painted By SHAD

After having followed courses in a school of Art of Brussels and having made a specialization in painting of letter, Shad began his life of artist with graffitis. His first exhibition which took place in the private gallery School fo Art “Sainte Marie”, was based on the topic “Aerosol Art”. Shad was only 17!

At this time, he initiates with technique of aerographer and makes mural frescos, tee-shirts… He studies the various techniques of painting and moves to tattoo’s … the expression of his art will be expressed on an alive fabric … the skin !

During several years he travelled and met artists of different countries, impregnating various cultures. His passion for Japan was born at this moment…a country, a culture which fascinates him. He devotes since then all his energy to go further in his knowledge (study of the tales and legends, folklore, visiting the country, contacts and permanent exchanges).

Arised from this meeting a series of paintings (Japanese Ghost in “Suiboku” style) and a multitude of “body-suit” tattoos. Here the body is not only used as a simple fabric anymore…Everything is thought, the anatomy of the body, the movements of the muscles, to allow work carried out to express all its power through this “groundwork of flesh”, to be in perfect “symbiosis” with the owner.

Several exhibitions followed … in particular in 1999 at Arkel Body Art Gallery in Brussels and in Tokyo (Japan) within the framework of the first Convention of Tattoo. More recently in Soumagne (Liege) during April 2000, within the framework of the festival “Made in Japan”.
Shad’s life is entirely devoted to the drawings, paintings and tattoo’s. An artistic loop which constitues all his life.

His works are inspired by Kyosai, Kuniyoshi, Yoshitoshi, Kunisada and Hokusai … This latter had as an intention of “go deep into the gasoline of art” and wished to reach a level such as “each point and each line of this drawings would have their own life!”.
Isn’t it the goal seeked by Shad?
