Today I want to point out a very common mistake in many movies that they keep repeating. We see many movies with a very common scene in which one guy puts a gun to some one’s head and demand the others to do something for him. Similar scene is pictured here with the mistake I am talking about.I recently watched a brilliant COMEDY movie named as FAR CRY. Although the director tried his best to make it an action pack but he was completely failed and I could not avoid laughing on many occasions. The picture shown below is taken from the end of the movie where the hero Mr. Til Schweiger has a gun in his hand and Mr. Udo Kier (Dr. Krieger) is very afraid and his body guards or the members of his HIGHLY SKILLED AND FULLY TRAINED COMMANDOS are worried because the hero can shoot the doctor any time.
But hey ! Look at the gun you ****ing commandos. The hammer is not pulled backwards so he can’t shoot. Why don’t you blow his brains out ?
But you can’t because you are FULLY TRAINED and this is something that you don’t do.
Even a kid knows that in that picture he can’t shoot the doctor. So we are not a bunch of fools sitting in cinemas, we ask you to come up with something more realistic. Something that we can believe in and enjoy. Good movie though. One laughs a lot and forgets the worries of life for a few hours.

you don’t have to cock the hammer to fire a gun, it just makes the trigger more sensitive
common mistake
Well, I’m not that much into guns. But as far as I know, there’s a part called FIRING PIN in the pistols. To actually get the bullet fired, we need that fire pin to strike the central part of the RIM of the bullet that is called THE PRIMER. The normal and usually used method is that the HAMMER strikes the FIRING PIN and the FIRING PIN in turn strikes THE PRIMER. Since the hero is holding a gun which uses that HAMMER PROCEDURE so he actually can’t fire the bullet without cocking the hammer.
Here’s a link which will tell you the whole story.

yea man, thats a semi automatic pistol
should get things straight before you flame it.
That handgun does not need to be cocked before you pull the trigger. It is a dual action pistol the trigger cocks and releases the hammer all in one squeeze.
