In mainland China, they drive on the right side. Here’s the solution: A road flipper that physically twists the roads over each other.
I hope the project goes forward, because I’ve always wanted to drive in a gigantic Scalextric.

This type of system came to light when they came up with a new type of cheap microchip that was so small that the human eye can’t even see it. This RFID wallet technology was intended for a very specific purpose when it came out, but other uses became much more apparent.

Three students from MIT Media Lab have invented an invisible and very cheap computer mouse. Using a tracking camera and infrared beam, the mouseless system registers and interprets a human hand’s movement and translates it into onscreen actions such as cursor movement and button clicking.

With their Mouseless prototype, a user’s hand movements are tracked with a line-capped Infrared laser beam and an Infrared tracking camera. The beam’s plane is focused just above the surface of the user’s hand area and when the user cups the hand, as if holding a real mouse, this breaks the beam at the points where each finger touches the surface. The camera then registers and interprets the changing field shapes and translates them into movement or action, such as clicking and double-clicking.

The students are continuing to enhance the tracking and recognition algorithms to build up a library of commands, possibly leading to multi-touch gesturing in addition to simple click confirmation.
The prototype of mouseless system is said to have cost just US$20 to put together.

The highly anticipated motion controller for the PlayStation 3 has been revealed by Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, on the eve of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The measure is a wand-like wireless device that uses the PLAYSTATION ® Eye camera to track the movements of the players body. The controller has its own light output in the upper orbit that is recognized by the camera.

Sony is looking to challenge the popular Nintendo Wii with President Shuhei Yoshida saying: “Nothing has been so accurate.”

It is lighter than the Wii Remote, which reduce the fatigue of the arm and comes with the sub boringly called “controller” that acts as the Wii Nunchuk.

“Nintendo has done a great job in removing barriers between people and parties,” Sony Senior Vice President of Marketing, Peter Dille, told the audience at GDC. Now, clearly, Sony is ready to move in.

In the future, it looks like we may actually have the option of using our body as a touchscreen, allowing us to make calls, play music and play video games on our skin. Pretty crazy and weird, I know, but it’s a reality. In all honesty though, I would much rather play my video games on a high resolution screen, the skin really isn’t a nice display to play on, I’m just sayin’. At the same time this thing is still pretty freakin’ cool.

A group of researchers from Carngie Mellon University and Microsoft have developed the device called Skinput, which turns your body into a touchscreen by sensing movements in your skin and muscles. This research team is going to present a paper about Skinput next month at the Computer-Human Interaction conference.
