Director: Steven Spielberg
Producer: Peter Jackson, Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg
Cast: Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Daniel Craig

Full Review:
Get ready to go back to your childhood with The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of Unicorn. Dive into the world of fairy tales, fantasies and a make-believe world of grand settings and larger than life costumes.

The comic book creation of the Belgian artist Herge, Tintin has long captivated the imagination of millions across the globe ever the first appearance in 1929. Steven Spielberg was so impressed with Peter Jackson”s work in the Lord of the Rings that he collaborated with him to make one of the best movies for the modern movie goers.

The Adventures of Tintin is based on three books – The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure. The screenplay, written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, mixes some of the elements from all three books to narrate a tale of the spirited young reporter/adventurer Tintin and gruff and alcoholic seadog Captain Haddock (Serkis).

Produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Steven Spielberg, The Adventures of Tintin with its spectacular animation and some beautiful staging takes you back to your childhood days. One of the drawback is that kids as well as adults are likely to get lost and will not be able to keep up with Tintin”s thought process and adventure. Spielberg has beautifully captured Haddock”s hallucination trip.

The Adventures of Tintin is Spielberg’s first animated film and he has beautifully captured the dynamism of Herge’s works. He has quite literally ‘breathed life’ to Herge’s characters, and to say in Spielberg’s own words, “This was the ‘best way to honor Herge.”

Spielberg has kept the old European look of the film intact. A one-shot action sequence set in Morocco is amazing and stands out. The roller-coaster chase is captivating.

The animation looks breathtakingly beautiful on 3D on the big screen. With this, Spielberg has successfully reached out to a wider audience.

The Adventures of Tintin is visually the most dazzling film to hit the theatres since Avatar and Tron: Legacy. The transitions of the scenes is fantastic. Steven Spielberg has made sure to provide attention to every detail. The legendary John Williams makes a comeback with wonderful orchestral score. Williams has given the Adventures Of Tintin a unique musical interpretation.

Comparisons invariably come with the Tinin”s symphonic theme by Ray Parker, Jim Morgan and Tom Szczesniak, composed for the TV series, but none scores over the other, in fact they are perfect complements of the time and technology, influencing their respective creations.

The sophisticated computer animation effortlessly blends the voices, expressions and movements of the stars. The characters and the background vistas match with the original drawings that Herge did for his cartoons.

However, it cannot be said that The Adventures of Tintin is without any folly. A few scenes are exaggerated and go over the top. Having said that, one cannot deny that The Adventures of Tintin is one of the most entertaining movies of the year. With this, Spielberg has introduced to us the first set of Tintin comics. The world is ready for Tintin franchise to come along.

Overall, The Adventures of Tintin is film worth watching with your kids!

Director: Justin Lin

Producers: Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel, Michael Fottrell

Cast: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Elsa Pataky, Jordana Brewster, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges

Music: Brian Tyler

Genre: Action

Release Date: 04/29/2011

Director Justin Lin is back with the movie Fast Five, which is the fifth entry in the series of The Fast and the Furious. His latest venture is an exceptional sequel, which is even better than the original film. The action scenes look highly unimaginable and far from reality, but they are really fun to watch.

The Fast and Furious saga gained new life in 2009 with the surprising success of its relatively unheralded reboot, Fast & Furious. Two years later, its follow-up, Fast Five, arrives armed with a bigger budget and loftier ambitions, looking to break free from the narrative constraints of its familiar street-racing niche and blaze a fresh trail for future installments. Because why limit yourself to cars, when there are tons of other super-cool, wildly expensive items to blow up?

The plot of Fast Five is a fantasy and does not resemble real life. It is a film about crass materialism, masculine sentimentality and extreme violence and these aspects have been exaggerated to the point of caricature. Relentless car chases, great setting and action sequences are the major attractions of the movie. In a way, Chris Morgan’s goofy script and ridiculous action are disappointing aspects.

But these two aspects do not deter the viewers from enjoying the movie because it has no pretensions other than to be a perfect car-chase film. It is all about two guys who steal expensive cars for a living and are forced to do this in Brazil because of America’s draconian anti-stealing policies.

Notorious street racer Dom (Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster) are wanted by the FBI for all the mayhem they perpetrated in the previous installments. They flee the US for Rio de Janeiro, where they decide to steal one last car to line their bank accounts. The easy money score goes badly and along with the FBI, a Brazilian kingpin (Joaquim de Almeida) also starts chasing the antiheroes. But Dom, Brian and Mia assemble a crack team of old colleagues to beat the kingpin at his own game by stealing all his money.

The major highlight of the movie is its action scenes and they are marvelously energetic and well-choreographed. There are two solid chase scenes in it. They are stealing cars off a moving train in a sequence and a chase scene on foot in which Dom, Brian and Mia have to elude both Reyes’ criminal gang and Hobbs’ law enforcement team. Stephen F Windon’s camera work is superb and the CGI effects shown in the film are extremely clever.

The characters in this franchise are larger than life. Justin Lin has retained most of the lead heroes of previous film and this helps him to go right into the meat of the story instead getting in to the introduction of each character first. He is also successful in tapping out the right kind of performance from each actor.

In a nutshell, Fast Five may not have an interesting script and it may run like an atomic clock, rumbling past calcified performances and logic free stunts, but it keeps the viewers’ interest in the film awake till its end. It is a must watch movie.

How many film directors do you know about ? If you watch movies then you’d surely know some famous film directors. But who do you think is the GREATEST FILM DIRECTOR OF ALL TIMES ? Many names will be spinning in your mind but don’t get confused. SIR ALFRED HITCHCOCK is considered to be the greatest film director of all times.

Despite of the fact that film industry has progressed a lot and there has been enormous development in the technology and effects used in the movies today, HITCHCOCK remains on top with his BRILLIANCE. You see more and more movies with blistering action and amazing special effects. Also the cameras used today are very advanced which can give you scenes with ULTRA SLOW MOTION and hence touch your heart. Bottom line is that today, the directors have more facilities and equipment with which they can fascinate the viewers.

But imagine the era when SIR ALFRED HITCHCOCK made a lot of awesome movies only with the help of his mind and no technology or advanced cameras or special effects or stuff like that. It was his direction or in other words his mind that presented the movie in such a brilliant way that even today his movies are considered more popular than the super hits of modern age. Take IMDB for instance. You see many HITCHCOCK movies in the TOP250 list and they’ve got really good ratings. I put IMDB here because the list provided by IMDB is made by users opinion and not by critics. So it shows the popularity of HITCHCOCK in the viewers and not among critics and I consider this popularity more important than any other.

Here are some HITCHCOCK hits.

Subtitles have been added and some mistakes have been pointed out. But one thing is very dominant in this movie. They never run out of ammo. A 30 round magazine can last many days and a shotgun with capacity of 8 rounds only can go on shooting as long as you want. Enjoy…
