Initially, when I landed on the site, I noticed the pictures of the birds and simply scrolled down the page to see the next picture… As people sometimes do.

    Without reading the captions below the pictures a person (me) gets a very different picture of what’s actually happening. Without reading the captions and just scanning over the images to ‘get the jist of a story’ it appears that;

In the first picture, a bird is injured or suffering in some way. In the following pictures, it appears that the bird is being attacked and killed by the attacking bird. It’s only when I stopped to read the captions did I learn what the real story was.

Personally, I think people could learn a great deal from these images if there was one set of pictures without captions and another set with the captions… I think Courts of Law would, in particular, benefit a great deal as first impressions count but aren’t always right.

    Thanks,
    Wayne

I’ve heard of something like this before from my mom. when a brown maya was hit by a car on our street it husband (or mate if you prefer) came down to comfort it. it seems that it’s husband didn’t understand that it’s wife died and it stayed there till my mom decided to come for a closer look and it flew away. Guess some birds are very close to each other maybe they do have feelings….

Oh and also Thera your the worse! don’t compare the little birds to humans cruelness you must be some kind of psychotic nut!

What gets me is the countless times people asthey communicate incaptions about such animal encounters that they seem to be needing to reassure themselves as if to see, “seehere, NOW we finally have proof” proof that animals/birds haveintelligent ‘feelings’ & thought. How much more proof do people need? I mean, how stupid are humans?

The bird is obviously trying to have sex with the dying bird. Birds are heartless and horrible creatures to eachother. Most people would be surprised to know that birds kill their young if they have even the slightest defect.

Every living animal has feelings! Always remember that!
I had two Rottweillers that were brothers! One died due to kidney failure at six years old! His bigger brother grieved for a long time! When I buried him, his brother tried to get in the hole with him! Every night for a long time, he sat at his brothers grave, and looked at the ground, waiting for him to return! He also slept with his brothers collar under his chin every night!

To answer that, Hilladelphia: Very stupid. Ever noticed how the human species in general says “Animals act human”? As far as I know, humans haven’t been classified plant or mineral, nor are humans made of a different material than the other species on this planet.
“Oh, you’re just portraying human emmotions onto an animal”, is another which makes me cringe. Are emotions of loss, longing, sorrow, joy, belonging, affection/love, and anger completely reserved humans? What is the the joy a pet expresses when its human(s) comes back home? What about when a lost packmember returns in a group? What then about the profound sorrow and apathy seen when kittens/puppies are taken from their mother? What about when a packmember dies? What are all those reactions if not “human emmotions”?
Emotions are there for our survival. They are there to make a closer bond to friends and family, help us learn from mistakes and evolve. They warn us with fear, they protect us with anger, they are confusing as grief digs a hole someplace within, and everything we are collapse in that hole.
So why don’t other species feel the same?

here is the fact of Barn Swallow

Both sexes defend the nest, but the male is particularly aggressive and territorial.[2] Once established, pairs stay together to breed for life, but extra-pair copulation is common, making this species genetically polygamous, despite being socially monogamous.[41] Males guard females actively to avoid being cuckolded.[42] Males may use deceptive alarm calls to disrupt extrapair copulation attempts toward their mates.[43]

Only the bird-brained would [try to] humanise animals. The typical human is a partial human, oka a partial animal. To fully appreciate what this means, realise that the main difference between a “typical” human and an animal is the ability to think. Imagine what if a lion could think as a human does with all our cruelty and cunning. That then is what a partial human is, a very dangerous entity, one who could destroy everything just in order to own, including true/full animals and usually does. The duty of a human is to become a full/fuller human. Those who projects as in analysing, plotting and planning, oka to think futuristically, is only using his intellect and the human intellect is not intelligence per se.

Those who lack the ability for true speech, lack true language and as such, lack full thoughts. Intelligence is the ability to realise what is real and has zero thoughts. When you see, you do not think and neither does the typical human contributes to his heartbeating, breathing and other intelligent activities. Thoughts are either of the past or of the future, thoughts do not exist within the present. As such, animals are always intelligent because they are under the full guidance of Nature. When a human tries to humanise an animal, he is basically trying to damage that animal. If true, talk about “Animal Rights”, the pet pastime of idiocy-cum-lunacy.

Just enjoy and try not to own anything other than one’s own stupidity-cum-dumbness and let Intelligence do His/Her work as intended. The “Play” was “staged” for your enjoyment about Love being real and not being an imagination underwritten/re-presented by the sympatheticos. Other’s situation is not for facilitating/justifying one’s ownership issues. Have no sympathy, which is an aspect of cunning, but have compassion because compassion is Benevolence whereas sympathy is all about benefitting one’s Fame, Fortune & Immortality, oka vested interest/s. Yes, how sympathetic you are to be soo poetic, feeling and ……. Why try to benefit from one bird’s death? The heart is not about being “under” or “over” hearted, it is about being the source of Love. Realise too that heart attacks are almost non-existent in lunatic asylums. Is that trying to tell us something about the heart – the “over-hearted” – which is a myth born of sympathy in order to deny compassion.

I think animals do feel emotions but on a basic level and not a higher thinking level like humans!I also think you have to respect animals(Swallows!)for their loyalty to their mates. I think it’s sad that the swallow will wonder what happened and when is she going to come back.It is like losing a family member and you’re just powerless. :)

lol at everyone tellilng Thera to ‘go die’ because s/he’s “not compassionate…”

Look, the fact of the matter is, given only these pictures, you can twist any kind of story you want. Naturally, people want to hear some fairy tail version of what happened. However, calling the injured bird “his wife” is beyond ridiculous; along with “…cries with adoring love” line.

I could easily make the argument that in the second picture the uninjured bird (henceforth known as Bird A) is clearly attacking the injured bird (henceforth known as Bird B). I certainly don’t see any food that was brought for ‘his darling lover.’ And in the third to the last picture, Bird A is clearly in the middle of making the killing blow. While the following pictures depicts Bird A shouting its battle cry of victory, while Bird B lies lifeless. Finally, Bird A looks around suspiciously to see if anyone saw… <__>

I can see a day when man has gotten rid of all animals except those that feed him…a lonely stinking parasite without any feelings for anything but itself; and heading for extiction after having turned this planet until it looks like the moon.

I raise several different kinds of birds, from poultry to parrots.
At times bird intelligence and personality blows me away, other times I am amazed by their incredible stupidity.
The live bird in picture three is obviously trying to mate with the dead one.
Birds do that, they aren’t real sharp sometimes.
However, I can see the bird bringing aid and comfort to his injured mate and griveing.

I just came across these pictures and I was brought to tears. I totally believe that birds have feelings. I had two love birds. Both peach faced. One was totally violet colour, he was very hyper and very unfriendly. He wasn’t violent or aggressive but he didnt like me anywhere near him, I named him Oscar. The other one (I still have him) is a typical green with red beab. He is very friendly and always wanted attention. Even though people says lovebirds don’t talk but disagree. As this one really made effort to talk. I used to call him Romeo and I swear he would often try to mimic the word “Romeo”, or just shout out often. Oneday the violet one ‘Oscar’ let himself out of the cage. Which he often did. So I always made sure the windows and doors were closed. However on that day I was working on my laptop and I could hear my birds playing and flying around the room. Suddenly I noticed quiteness. Which was very unusual and Romeo was playing by himself around me. So looked around and called out my birds name, only to realise he must have flown through the window. I imidately closed the window and went out looking for Oscar. But he must have gone far far away!!! O felt really stupid and very very angry at myself!!! But the most unusual thing was to come yet. Through out the day Romeo kept looking for Oscar in the cage there was a little bird house, where Oscar used to reside most time of the day. Romeo kept looking in and out their house. This continued for couple of days. However Romeo eventually came out of his bereavement and now he is even more friendly and if I leave him out of my sight for a moment he really goes mental and there is no way I can put him in the cage. He thinks he is human. He does all the usual things only human would do. If he hears any sound he starts screaming loud!! I love him. He is the best thing I could ask for ever!!!

thera and ZRo go die in a hole. your as stupid as you say the birds are and birds are intelligent creatures. they are definitly smarter than you. i have birds and one of our birds (not trained at all) got out of its cage and flew away. its mate was still in the cage. it came back for its mate and open the cage from the outside just to get back in and see his mate even though he couldnt get out again. so bear in mind that human, bird, dog or cat we are all animals but some of us just happen to have feelings so yea. go die in a hole.

Awww, this is so sad, it made me tear up…. That poor bird, he just loves his wife and wants to be with her but she’s dead :’( But he loves her and he doesn’t want her to be dead but she is :’( This is so sad. I would hate to watch the one I love die right before my eyes. That would tear me apart and I’d no longer be a human. I’d go crazy and become an animal. I suppose that that is how this bird became, “human” in a sense… He just doesn’t want to let her go… I wouldn’t either! If you love her then stand by her forever and ever! Sigh… This story touches my heart…. My recently-ever-so-broken heart….. I would still stand by her, because I love her….
